That in Jember there have been ISIS seeds, is not a mere figment. This statement was made by the Director of Prevention of theNational Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Brig. Gen. Pol. Hamli while speaking at a meeting in Jember, East Java, Thursday (5/7).
According to him, ISIS seeds have undertaken the cadre movement in one of the campus mosques in Jember.
"Please take a look, if necessary you need to further take into account (their movement), ask the Police Chief of Jember (AKBP Kusworo Wibowo). I will tell the police chief," he said.
Radical groups and terrorists are targeting students to be recruited as their members. They've been in universities for a long time. In fact, a number of terrorists are alumni of public and private universities.
Some of them have become ideologists. Some others have become bomb-makers. They propagate by luring heaven and angels following their jihad, he said.
"The biggest factor of a person joining ISIS is because of a misconception of religion, Jihad is only understood as war instead of finding other meanings," he added.
Therefore, he asked all university figures in Indonesia to supervise the activities in their respective campus mosques. (Aryudi A Razaq/Masdar)
