Trade Minister, Muslimat NU cooperate to empower traditional merchants

Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan in collaboration with the Muslimat NU gave a training and education to traditional merchants and local consumers.<>
"Muslimat NU is the the largest women organization having links to various walks of life," Gita said in a press release in Jakarta over the weekend (9/11) .
Gita along with the Khofifah Indar Parawansa-led organization agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in terms of progarms aimed at empowering both traditional merchants and small consumers.
Gita hoped the Muslimat NU to able to facilitate or become such a practitioner in running consumer education programs and empowerment of small traders.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade will run consumer education programs concerning the rights and obligations. This education program is intended to enhance the well-being of small merchants by providing working capitals and competitiveness in accordance with the current economic conditions.
In addition to collaborating with the Muslimat NU, Gita also invited stakeholders and public figures to give education programs for small merchants and the community. In the case, the ministry has collaborated with the country's leading band group Slank in running a program themed "Smart Consumer".
