Armed forces help secure congress arena

Tens of Indonesian National armed forces (TNI) from the Military District Command (Kodim) of Cirebon along with students of Kempek Islamic boarding school (pesantren), Cirebon, helped sweep the location of NU's ulema national conference and large conference 2012 on Friday (14/9.<>

"It's our responsibility from the (Cirebon) region," captain ARH Sudaryanto as leading a cleanliness task at the 200-hectare peasantren.

According to him, this was part of the TNI's concern and care for the success of the momentous event, adding that sweeping was only one of other activities, for instance, cooking in kitchen, installing banners, flattening the ground and, of course, securing the event.

He admitted that he was proud of being able to take part in the NU's big event, saying that TNI were often involved in various activities, especially in Kempek.

"We are satisfied for being able help NU for the success of its (ulema) national congress," he said.

Meanwhile, the leader of Kempek Islamic boarding school KH ja'far Aqil Siroj said he had long had a close relationship with TNI in the Cirebon district and it was part of efforts to embrace all elements of society to serve the pople.
