Mun'im DZ: NU propagates moderal Islamic teachings

Deputy Secretary General of NU, Indonesia's largest Muslim organization, Abdul Mun'im DZ said the Islamic teachings preserved by NU are moderate for considering that Islam is a very open religion which recognizes the fact of ‘differences in opinion’ as a natural phenomenon.<>

"Islam in general and NU in particular will always promote tolerance for being an essential principle of Islam and Muslims are order to have good relations with people of all religions," he told NU Online here on Tuesday (5/2).

The NU intellectual called on Muslims in general and Nahdliyin in particular to know that "Islam teaches us how to create peace within ourselves and how to make peace with our fellow man regardless of color politics or beliefs.

Mun'im added Islam is a religion of mercy and justice for teaching its adherents to interact with all people and to cooperate with them for the betterment of mankind.

"Muslims should work together with other groups in opposing any oppression, bloodshed, corruption, promiscuity and perversion," he said, adding that eliminating such dangers as pollution and disease was a must.

He expressed concerns over the reality of the Muslim worldwide these days in which hostility and division prevail, without showing any mercy or tolerance.
