NU Online, Brebes local govt hold religious band festival

To fill fast-breaking time during Ramadan 1433 H, the Department of Public Relations and Protocol of Brebes Regional Secretariat in collaboration with NU Online, the news portal of the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), will hold a religious band festival.<>
The festival on the theme "Ngabuburit (waiting time for frast breaking) Anti Customs Fraud 1433 H Brebes District" is aimed at socializing the importance of complying with the requirements of Customs legislation and commemorate the 9th anniversary of NU Online in 2012 in addition to enlivening religious musics among young people.
"The advent of Ramadan must be addressed with an increase in worship, including by propagating Islamic values through religious music," organizing committee chief Agung Budiman said on the sidelines of a committee meeting held at the Brebes NU headquarters, Jln Yos Sudarso on Thursday (2/8).
According to Agung, the religious propagation could be (carried out) "through music because it is beautiful and God loves beauty. Religious music is including to praise the names of Allah."
"Through religious music, let us rmaterialize friendly Islam instead of angry one," Agung said, adding that it would be the second festival that is deliberately held as part of addressing the need of Islamic young generation in terms of religious music.
"The festival is open to the public and will be followed by some 15 bands selected in three radio stations run by Brebes local government," he said.
Agung added, the festival would be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 starting at 10.00 in front of the Brebes NU headquarters. Total prize is amounted to Rp. 4.5 million rupiah, including trophies and certificates provided by the committee.
Reportedly, Brebes regent H Agung Widyanto will open and even sing one or two religious songs.
